...it's communication...that's what theatre is all about..."
For students aged 13 - 24 years of age
(by audition only)
This performance-based production company, comprising of student performers, musicians, technicians and a creative team, are guided and supported by a professional team of tutors, to explore creativity and learn the skills of working as part of a Company.
Students rehearse weekly with levels of discipline to complement professional process and technique in order to stage an end-of-year public performance. Productions may include full-scale musicals, Shakespeare, Classic and Contemporary works as well as children's classics.
Based at Camberley Theatre, Company One is our new Youth Theatre Company for 2021.
Weekly rehearsals give students the opportunity to be creative and develop their stagecraft through a variety of skills:
drama-based techniques: improvisation skills, role-play, devising, and script work
musical based techniques: music and movement, space and shape, rhythm and technique
Auditions will take place each year and, if you are successful, we will offer you a place in the production company. You will need to commit to the full rehearsal schedule which means attending weekly classes for the full academic year. All cast members will be required at every rehearsal.
Members of the Youth Theatre Company will take part in a fully staged production at Camberley Theatre each year, as well as being invited to take part in additional performance opportunities as a representative of Company One.
Company members will also be encouraged to join us in exploring and experiencing live and streamed theatre and performance events, musicals and music recitations, radio plays, poetry readings, and more.
Experiencing and being able to enjoy feedback and discussion as part of a group is extremely beneficial.
Company members will also receive benefits at the theatre including 'theatre club membership' offering discount theatre tickets and the potential to gain employment at the theatre through the Work Experience scheme.
Our staff members are all highly experienced and qualified practitioners who inspire and motivate our students. Each member of the team has an enhanced DBS check and up-to-date Safeguarding, First Aid and Covid-Awareness Training. We are committed to the protection and safeguarding of our students.
Termly invoices are issued before the start of term and fees are to be paid on receipt of invoice.
