...all the world's a stage...

Working in an arts partnership, Creative Minds Academy and Camberley Theatre are looking to expand and grow the Learning and Participation opportunities within the theatre by offering interesting and exciting teaching and learning for the community, more performance opportunities and a resident youth theatre production company.

About the Partnership

The Creative Minds Academy opened in September 2016 with two Youth Theatre groups and a Saturday Academy.  Over the last five years we have expanded to include specialist short courses, technical theatre workshops and advanced skills, adult fitness, movement for mobility, dedicated classes for those with additional needs and a wellbeing support hub.

Through our Participation and Learning outreach programme our students thrive.

We actively promote our commitment and dedication to the education, preparation, participation and learning of each member of our community through theatre practice and performance.

We are delighted to be a recognised school with the CDMT, a member of the National Association of Youth Theatres and an Arts Award Centre for Trinity College, London.

Creative Minds Productions

Creative

Minds

Creative Minds Productions was founded in 2005 by Eddie and Polly King.  Successfully producing small-scale theatre productions for 10 years and already running educational and technical training workshops, Creative Minds was ready to expand their teaching and learning programme into the tuition of theatrical skills and offer of participation workshops.  Creative Minds took over the Youth Theatre provision at Camberley Theatre in 2016 with a view to provide inclusive and accessible theatre arts training for the community.  Performance opportunities and guest tutors provide a wealth of experience and knowledge along with highly skilled tutors to lead the Youth Theatre and Academy classes.

Participation, Learning and Education are at the heart of the Academy with a focus on Community Outreach and Youth Theatre programmes.

Camberley

Theatre

Camberley Theatre is owned and managed by Surrey Heath Borough Council.  It was October 1966 when the Camberley Civid Hall first opened it's doors.  October 2016 saw Camberley celebrate their 50th Anniversary and as part of the celebrations, Venue and Operations Manager, Andy Edmeads, wanted to improve the theatre's reputation for exciting youth theatre projects and to offer more community group events.

Creative Minds Productions and Creative Minds Academy were invited to join the theatre community in Camberley.

"The Youth Theatre provision was put out to tender and we are delighted Creative Minds were approved as the new managers for the Youth Theatre provision, in arts partnership with the theatre, responsible for the running of and expansion of the provision of theatre classes and workshops".
